ACTive Roles Theatre Company (ARTC) is the Ohio Valley’s first non-profit, public, outreach theatre operating out of Martins Ferry, OH. It is the belief of ARTC that all children and teens have creative voices that simply need self-confidence and encouragement to thrive. It is the goal of ARTC to provide a safe space, free of judgement, for children and teens to explore their own creativity in productive ways that also serves the community in which they live. It is with that goal in mind that ARTC offers all classes/workshops free of charge to students of all socio-economic backgrounds in hopes of establishing an alternative after-school activity that will enrich the students’ lives, as well as, bolster the local community.

The curriculum at ARTC, while generated predominantly by student interest, will broadly cover the art of acting, the role that theatre plays in modern society, and theatre as a career. Students will learn various acting techniques, script analysis, and scene study. If there is sufficient interest, students will create and perform in various community outreach projects, as well as, a spring/summer production of Shakespeare in the Park, TBD.
